In this day and age, so many of us consume popular culture alone via headphones on our computers or smartphones or with a small group of family or friends on our big screen TVs with our surround sound systems. Technology has allowed us the freedom to watch and listen when we please in the privacy of our own homes. While this is not at all a bad thing, it does deter us from sharing some great moments with the people around us. There’s something special about going out to consume live music, theatre and films with our community. The collective reactions can add a lot to an experience and can actually make it more enjoyable. While I am one of those people who likes to watch a film in my PJs on my own couch, I am also very excited that Downtown Kingston! is once again bringing back Movies In The Square.
Every Thursday in the summer, beginning next week, Kingstonians can enjoy a great line up of free family friendly films under the stars at Market Square. Bring a lawn chair and find your spot on the square. Films begin at dusk. Oh, and on the weekend, do it again at the drive-in at Kingston Family Fun World. Gems like these are what makes Kingston a great place to live.
