Marsden Kemp

The things you had to do before there was Photoshop! This photograph is from the Archives of Ontario’s holdings and is of the amateur photographer and professional piano-tuner Marsden Kemp. Active from the late 1890’s to about 1931, Marsden took scenic photos of many eastern Ontario communities, in particular Picton and Kingston. Marsden was known to have travelled through these communities by bicycle, camping along the way. Many of his photos exist in our holdings here at Queen’s Archives and many are available on-line through the Archives of Ontario website.
Marsden Kemp was my mother's great uncle – I have some of his photographs I inherited from my grandfather Joseph Kemp who was his nephew and a graduate of Queen's medical school, 1916.
