Limestone City Blues Festival announces 2019 lineup

The 23rd annual Limestone City Blues Festival will be bringing the blues to downtown Kingston from Thursday, Aug. 22, to Sunday, Aug. 25, 2019. Over 100 hours of blues music will be presented over the four-day festival.
“It’s a very exciting lineup,” said Downtown Kingston! Senior Projects Manager Jan MacDonald, “We’re super happy with who’s coming this year!”
The festival kicks off this year on Thursday, Aug. 22, 2019 in Confederation Park with musician Lachy Doley, a keyboard and clarinet player hailing from Australia.
On Friday night, Danielle Nicole from Kansas City will headline the Princess Street Stage. Nicole was recently awarded both the Contemporary Female Blues Artist and Bass Player of the Year awards at last month’s Blues Music Awards in Memphis, Tennessee. Opening for her will be Gary Cain Band from Kitchener, Ontario.
The festival has announced Kenny Neal as the Springer Market Square headliner. Neal was also lauded at the Blues Music Awards, taking home the Contemporary Male Blues Artist award. The evening’s opener will be Quebec’s Angel Forrest Trio and Napanee’s own Kim Pollard Band.
“We always like to include a local band if we can,” said MacDonald. “It’s nice to have two really dynamic female performers on each of the evenings.”
The Limestone City Blues Festival is produced by the Downtown Kingston! Business Improvement Area, an association comprised of and funded by 700+ downtown businesses. The association is dedicated to the maintenance and promotion of a vibrant and healthy downtown.
Bracelets will go on sale in early July. More information can be found at www.downtownkingston.ca/events.

Clarinet or Clavinet? Pretty sure it’s the latter… ;)
