Kingston’s Historic Waterfront

Kingston, OntarioThe above photograph of Fort Henry was taken by H. Henderson studio, a Kingston photography studio that was in business from 1864 to 1911. This photograph is likely from the earlier period. The perspective is an unusual one given that it was taken from the water. Note the cows grazing on the side of the hills. For further information regarding early Kingston photographers find a copy of Jennifer McKendry’s Early Photography in Kingston at your local library or bookstore.

And make sure to head to Fort Henry this week for the PanAm festivities which are taking place there from the 1st until the 4th. There are plenty of activities and musical events for the whole family, and best of all, it’s FREE.
