Kingstonist’s Greatest Photo Contest

Two weeks ago we announced our twelfth Greatest Photo Contest, which challenged local photographers to submit their best pictures of Kingston to our awesome Flickr group. There are so many beautiful photos in our group and this past weekend, we once again took on the difficult task of narrowing down the submissions to eight finalists. Now it’s up to you, our readers, to help us choose the best photo. As always, Kingstonist appreciates the efforts of all those who’ve joined and continue to upload photos to our Flickr group. We use the group regularly as a source for photos, so even if your submission wasn’t selected or doesn’t win the top prize, there’s a good chance we’ll find a way to prominently feature it with due credit at some point.

The scaled photos from the finalists are all linked to the originals on Flickr. We highly recommend you click through in order to see them all in high resolution. In no particular order, the finalists are:

  • For me, the most striking pic is Confederation Basin. It's so vividly gloomy that it almost gives me chills. It got my vote.

  • Funny, I don't remember voting, but the website has made me vote for someone I didn't want to. Anyone care to explain why this is?

    • Hmm, I’m not sure how the site made you vote for someone…is it possible someone at the same IP address has already voted? As an aside, we’re showing no votes from the IP address you submitted the comment from.

  • Donna Brown's photo is so vibrant and beautiful. So talented

    • I really like it as well, but would prefer it without the fake reflection effect. I tend to like natural scenes and don't care for stuff like that added in post.

Although that's just my opinion, of course. That was her artistic spin on it. It's a lovely picture.
