The #ygkchallenge is an ongoing series where we dare you to be different, resolve to be better, and or do something awesome in support of our beloved community. Each week, Kingstonist establishes a new, ambitious or quirky goal, encouraging you to step out of your comfort zone and do something great, and hopefully a little out of the ordinary. By taking part in this community-wide initiative, we hope to make Kingston (and the world) a slightly better place to live, work and play.

Read Your Heart Out at Kingston WritersFest! Kingston’s annual celebration of the written word returns for one week only with dozens of intriguing performances, readings, onstage discussions and master classes, which aim to inspire, astound and entertain. In fact, if you’re just getting around to figuring out which events to take part in this year, chances are you might be disappointed, as a handful of the festival’s big draws have already sold out. The impressive roster for 2017 includes the likes of Michael Chabon, Terry O’Reilly (Sold Out), Anna Porter, Jody Mitic, and local talents such as Steve Heighton, Sarah Tsiang and Ray Argyle. Spanning every interest and genre imaginable, from YA to cooking, adventure photography to historical fiction, organizers have pulled out all the stops to ensure that this year’s festival is a hit for both readers and aspiring writers.
