Ticket Giveaway: Opera at Warp Speed

Kingston Symphony, Opera 5, Grand Theatre, opera, Kingston, OntarioOpera 5 is changing the way people see opera. This Toronto-based company is all about making opera accessible and appealing to a wide audience base with a range of musical tastes. Since its inception in 2012, Opera 5 has been awarded Best Independent Opera Company in 2014 by Colorado-based blog Operagasm and the Capital City Critics’ Choice Award for Best Overall Production at the 2013 Ottawa Fringe Festival.  In 2015, they commissioned and premiered an opera by Montreal-based composer Darren Russo that went on to win the SOCAN Foundation’s John Weinzweig Grand Prize – an award for Canadian compositions by composers under the age of 30.

Opera 5’s pops show, Opera at Warp Speed, is a hilarious, sci-fi performance of a “newly found” Wagner opera that incorporates every possible operatic and sci-fi cliché imaginable, and they are bringing it to YGK for a performance with The Kingston Symphony next Saturday, April 2nd at 7:30pm at The Grand Theatre. Will Captain James High C and his first mate Horn Solo rescue the princess Coloratu-ra from the evil Carmen? Only one way to find out!
