Kingston Film Office announces music video funding

The Kingston Film Office is working with local video production companies on the creation of music videos for Kingston area musicians.
Alex Jansen, film commissioner, announced today that musicians are invited to contact one of the selected local video production companies that have partnered with the Kingston Film Office for this project. The individual production companies will receive $1,000 each from the Film Office to produce a music video with the artist of their choice. The completed music videos will be screened during the Kingston Canadian Film Festival in March 2020.
“We’re excited to be supporting local media production companies and encouraging connection and collaboration across creative sectors,” said Jansen. “A big goal of the Film Office is to connect the local production community with the larger industry, which we’re starting to see more and more of in Kingston with recent productions like Titans or Murdoch Mysteries. These music videos will serve as great production exercises during a traditionally slower time of year.”
Musicians who are looking to have a music video produced are asked to contact the listed production companies directly with a pitch between now and Monday, Jan. 6, 2020. The video producers have autonomy when it comes to selecting which musicians they will work with, and the Film Office will provide logistical support where needed. The roster of music videos will be announced in mid-January, with production taking place between mid-January and early-March.
The Film Office is also open to partnering with additional production companies to participate in this project. Companies that have ‘more than three years of operation, valid production insurance and are interested in participating,’ are invited to contact the film office for more details.
