#ygkChallenge: Let’s All Go To The Derby

Welcome to Kingstonist’s weekly challenge, dare, resolution or whatever you prefer to call it. Each week we establish a new and ambitious community goal, encouraging our readers, followers, friends and families to step out of their comfort zones and do something great, and hopefully a little out of the ordinary. Consider this your official and personal invitation to join us in completing a small but meaningful achievement. By taking part in this community-wide initiative, we hope to make Kingston a slightly better place to live, work and play. And of course, we also hope that you will feel proud of your contribution and achievement.

This week’s challenge encourages you to:

Go to the Kingston Derby Girls’ Home Opener!  Throughout the off season, the Kingston Derby Girls have been putting in some seriously hard work in preparation for their glorious  season opener at the Memorial Centre. The double header on May 10th will feature hometown rivals: Skateful Dead vs Rogue Warriors, followed by KDG’s Disloyalists vs Quebec City’s Les Duchesses.  The 2014 season opener will be a fantastic opportunity to get reacquainted with familiar as well as up and coming stars of Kingston’s flattrack scene.  Add the trackside beer garden and always entertaining halftime show to the mix of jams, epic spills and amazing outfits, and you’ve got yourself an evening to remember.

Try it once, and you’ll be hooked.  It’s time for the mother of all bouts!
