Improvements To Two Parks Posted For Public Review

Residents are invited to review planned improvements to two City parks.

The City has a playground replacement program where, yearly aging and non-compliant play equipment is updated based on the equipment condition and both Trillium Ridge and Buckingham Parks have been identified as candidate sites.

At Trillium Ridge Park, 341 Waterloo Dr., the old equipment will be removed from within the woodlot and a new playground location is proposed within Trillium Ridge Park to provide a safer and more accessible play space. The existing old play structures is proposed to be replaced with a new senior and junior combo play structure to be located at one central location in the park. The existing swing set is proposed to remain as it is still in good condition. Asphalt paths, concrete pads with benches and wood mulch play surfacing are proposed. See the play area concept here.

At Buckingham Park, 19 Buckingham Court, the City is proposing to replace the existing old play structures with a new combined senior and junior play structure, seesaw and a new swing set. In addition, asphalt paths, a concrete pad seating area and wood mulch play surfacing are also proposed in the improvements to increase accessibility to the playgrounds. See the play area concept here.

With every playground update, the City seeks to:

  • Be in keeping with changing trends in play equipments;
  • Provide the same level of service;
  • Improve accessibility (e.g. pathways and play surfacing);
  • And improve public safety, where possible (e.g. relocating playgrounds closer to public street views, “eyes on the park”).

Input on the playground concepts can be sent to [email protected], faxed to 613-546-1899 or mailed to 216 Ontario St., Kingston, ON K7L 2Z3.
