Half Moon Bay, Thousand Islands

Half Moon Bay, Kingston, OntarioSince 1887 there have been summer Sunday services at Half Moon Bay welcoming locals and visitors alike to pull up in their boats for Vespers. The photograph above is from around 1900. During the months of July and August a different minister each week is invited to lead the service. David Wallace, from Amesbury Massachusetts designated in his will that the bay be used “always for a place for the Worship of God and for no other purpose”; since 1971 it has been managed by a charitable foundation created for the “acquisition, preservation, maintenance and operation of Half Moon Bay as an outdoor Church”. This past weekend marked the end of the 128th season for worship services at Half Moon Bay on the south side of Bostwick Island in the Thousand Islands.
