Guide to the 2015 Wolfe Island Music Festival
While I am somewhat saddened by the arrival of August (slow down already, summer!) there is much to look forward to this month, and this weekend marks one of the most anticipated music events of the summer: the Wolfe Island Music Festival. Continuing its tradition of bringing fantastic Canadian music to the island, this year’s line up will not disappoint. The festival’s four stages will host bands of varying genres, including four local, ygk bands.
While the ferry has been under construction, slowing down travel from the mainland to the island, festival goers need not worry! Once again, WIMF is offering a Festival Express boat. Leaving from the same dock as the Wolfe Island ferry at the bottom of Barrack Street, the express boat is free to ticket holders and will feature entertainment by CFRC DJs as you cross the lake. Additional runs have been added this year, with the final ride from the island scheduled for 1am. You can see the complete schedule here. For those who decide to bring a vehicle (although it really isn’t necessary or recommended), the regular ferry will be running on its normal schedule but does take longer due to smaller capacity. It will also dock 5km from the festival site. Should you choose to walk on, fear not! There is a shuttle from the dock to the festival, or better yet, bring your bike.
Newly added this year is a Saturday morning shuttle to Big Sandy Bay. The bus leaves from Fargo’s store at 9:30am, returns at 1pm and costs $5 (not including beach admission fee).
Tickets are still available and can be purchased at Brian’s Record Option, The Grad Club, Fargo’s General Store, online and at the gate. Prices range from $50-125 and kids under 12 get in for free! So, get your ticket now and use this handy guide to start planning your weekend on the island. See you there!
