Guide to The 2014 Skeleton Park Arts Festival

Skeleton Park Arts FestivalIt’s time once again for The Skeleton Park Arts Festival.  The festival, now in its ninth year, has expanded to join forces with The Kingston Jazz Festival and also features other artistic genres such as film, theatre and visual art.  The festival begins this Friday and will run for a full week.  Check out our guide below to see all the exciting ways Kingston will be celebrating the arts.

Friday, June 20th

6:00pm-9:00pm: Restaurant Jazz at Monte’s featuring Craig Jones and Friends.
8:00pm: Domino Theatre presents Who Saw Him Die at The Davies Auditorium (52 Church St.).  Live jazz will be performed by The Downtown Trio and there will be an exhibit by artist Jeff Mann.

12:00pm: The annual Porch Jazz Parade begins at The Mansion and winds its way through downtown Kingston, ending at McBurney Park.

Sunday, June 22nd

12:00pm: Restaurant Jazz at Le Chien Noir with The Chien Noir All Stars.
2:00pm: Contra Dance at the Newlands Pavillion (Barrie and King) featuring Sheesham & Lotus and The Open Voices Community Choir.

Monday, June 23rd

7:00pm* and 9:15pm: Til The Cows Come Home film premiere at The Screening Room.  Featuring live music by Chris Brown.  Tickets are $6-9 and are available at The Screening Room and online. *7pm show is SOLD OUT.

Tuesday, June 24th

12:00pm: Chantal Thompson live at Confederation Basin.
6:00pm-9:00pm: Restaurant Jazz by Spencer Evans at Olivea.

Wednesday, June 25th

7:00pm: Music in the Park at Lion’s Civic Gardens (935 Gardiners Rd) featuring The Campfire Liars Club.

Thursday, June 26th

6:00pm-9:00pm: Restaurant Jazz featuring Dave Barton and Friends at Olivea.
8:00pm: The Kandinsky Effect at The Grand Theatre with live jazz by Lightbox in the Davies Lounge at 7:00pm.  Tickets are $23.95 and are available online and at The Grand Theatre box office.

Friday, June 27th

12:00pm: Nagata Shachu Taiko Drumming Workshop at The Grand Theatre.
2:00pm: Nagata Shachu Taiko Drumming performance at The Grand Theatre.
6:00pm-9:00pm: Restaurant Jazz featuring Craig Jones and Friends at Monte’s.
8:00pm: Heillig Manoeuvre at The Grand Theatre with live jazz by Inside Out in the Davies Lounge at 7pm and 9:30pm.  Tickets are $23.95 and are available online and at The Grand Theatre box office.

Saturday, June 28th

7:00pm: Jonathan “Bunny” Stewart performs jazz at Modern Fuel‘s Juried Show opening reception.
7:30pm: John Sebastian from The Lovin’ Spoonful performs at The Grand Theatre with Will and Amanda of The Wilderness of Manitoba.  Tickets are $36.50-$48.50 and are available online and at The Grand Theatre box office.

Sunday, June 29th

12:00pm: Restaurant Jazz at Le Chien Noir by The Chien Noir All Stars.
2:00pm: The Lady Racers at Artfest Kingston in City Park.
3:30pm: Rueben DeGroot at Artfest Kingston in City Park.
