Georgette Fry: Something’s got a hold on me

With not one but two highly anticipated CD release parties taking place this evening, I’ve got nothing but music on my mind as I head into the weekend.  With so many great local stages to regularly catch live music in Kingston, today I’m reaching back to last Summer’s Kingston Jazz Festival and featuring a truly special performance by Kingston’s-own Georgette Fry.  Filmed in front of a live audience at the Grand Theatre this past Summer, Georgette returned from semi-retirement to perform a spectacular tribute to Etta James.  Her big and amazing sound that evening was made possible by: Anna Sudac (Vocals), Tabby Johnson (Vocals), Jonathan Stewart (Bandleader & Saxophone), Janet McRae (Trumpet), James Wannamaker (Saxophone), Alain McCann (Piano & Keyboards), Ken Hall (Organ), Duncan Holt (Drums), Zak Colbert (Bass), David Barton (Guitar), and the Shout Sister Choir.  Hit play above and let her take on Something’s got a hold on me take you into the weekend that’s one hour longer than usual.
