Frontenac County Courthouse

Frontenac County Courthouse, Kingston, OntarioThe Courthouse was built between 1855 and 1858, and built upon or rebuilt in parts several times after that date. The building has survived two fires and multiple additions. Note in the picture above the lack of cupolas on the building, also the state of the grounds and lack of fountain. It is believed that this photograph is from around 1862, very soon after completion. One of my favourite parts of the photograph are the faces of people standing over the portico. This weekend Frontenac County is celebrating its 150th anniversary in Harrowsmith. There will be activities, midway rides and music. Check out the schedule and visit “the other County” in the area.
