The Buskers Rendezvous, one of Kingston’s most popular annual events, is taking a year off due to COVID-19.

“Downtown Kingston! is sad to announce the postponement of Kingston Buskers Rendezvous – the 32nd edition- until July 2021,” said Jan MacDonald, Buskers Rendezvous Artistic Director, in a press release. “Safety of the performers who, with only a few exceptions, would be travelling internationally to perform here, and the safety of the wonderful buskers’ audiences is paramount.”

The postponement comes following the recommendations of the province and city regarding social distancing. Instead, Downtown Kingston! says it is hoping to create an online version of the Rendezvous, featuring examples of what they can expect to see in 2021. “Think new tricks, how to juggle in your backyard and much more,” says the release.

Downtown Kingston! says next year’s festival, taking place on July 8-11, 2021, is expected to be filled with acts from all around the globe and returning performers such as Wacky Chad, Might Mike and Dynamike.

“Buskers will be back with better than ever performances,” said MacDonald. “Kingston Buskers Rendezvous has brought dynamic performers from all over the world to the streets of Downtown Kingston for over 30 years and looks forward to welcoming performers and guests to a safe space next summer.”
