Earle Cornelius McCaig

Earle Cornelius McCaig, Kingston, OntarioIn observance of Remembrance Day this week we thought it fitting to feature one of Kingston’s own fallen soldiers from the 1st world War. Earle Cornelius McCaig, Kingston citizen and Queen’s University student. Member of the Orchestra and Drama Guild. Enlisted with the Queen’s Hospital Reinforcements in 1916 and had been on staff with the No. 7 General Hospital until the time of his death. He died of wounds sustained as a result of the bombing of the Queen’s and British hospitals in Etaples, France in May of 1918. The bombing of Etaples was a much-debated issue as hospitals (on all sides) were meant to be exempt from targeting during the war.
