Day Trip Destinations Near Kingston
Every year around this time, Harvey and I try to find time for a trip to Prince Edward County to stock our wine rack with local bottles and to just get away, even for just a few hours. In Kingston, we are surrounded by countless interesting, historical, beautiful and delicious destinations all within an hour or so by car, and we like to take advantage of that whenever we can. When visiting family west of Kingston, it’s a regular part of our trip to stop at The Wilton Cheese Factory. In the summer, Sandbanks is the destination beach for many Kingstonians and boaters enjoy making the trip through The Thousand Islands to quaint towns like Westport and Gananoque.
Usually, Kingstonist stays focused on Kingston proper, but it’s hard to ignore the great things these wonderful places have to offer. Whether you go for a specific event, a day of relaxation, your favourite restaurant restaurant or a different shopping experience, we want to know:

We based this week’s choices entirely on our own experiences and the experiences of friends, so if you don’t see your favourite place listed above, this is your chance to share them with us. Drop off a comment and tell us about your preferred destination just outside of Kingston. If you did pick from the list above, tell us about it! What do you like to do there? Let’s help each other find new and interesting places to explore, right in our own backyard.
Thanks to Eric.Parker for today’s photo of Sandbanks.
