The document above is correspondence between E. J. Pense and Ambrose Small discussing the contract between the City of Kingston and Small to supply and program the entertainment for the Grand Opera House here in Kingston. The story of Ambrose Small is a fascinating one indeed, having inspired a number of literary and theatrical projects. Find out more about Small in “Ambrose” which is playing at, in, and around the Grand Theatre as part of the Kick and Push Festival in the next couple of weeks. The Festival is made up of six theatre companies who are teaming up in a collaborative effort to program events that are unique to Kingston. Participating companies include Theatre Kingston, Blue Canoe Productions, Single Thread Theatre Company, and the Cellar Door Project (one of favorites here at the Archives).
