Collier’s Cross-Canada Travels

Alan Collier, Kingston, OntarioSummertime is the time for road trips! Pictured above is the car and trailer that were used by artist Alan Collier during his annual sketching trips across Canada. There are thousands of slides in this collection depicting Canada’s diverse landscape from coast to coast to coast. The slides were used back at Collier’s studio during the winter months, in tandem with his sketches, to produce his canvasses. They were used too, for his numerous lectures and illustrated talks as is likely the case with this slide which was arranged in the split screen by Collier himself. There is an exhibition of Collier paintings that is on for the next month at The Agnes, if you’re not able to go on your own roadtrip, wander by and enjoy the results of someone else’s.
