#ygkChallenge: Support Kingston’s Searchlight Nominees

Welcome to Kingstonist’s weekly challenge, dare, resolution or whatever you prefer to call it. Each week we establish a new and ambitious community goal, encouraging our readers, followers, friends and families to step out of their comfort zones and do something great, and hopefully a little out of the ordinary. Consider this your official and personal invitation to join us in completing a small but meaningful achievement. By taking part in this community-wide initiative, we hope to make Kingston a slightly better place to live, work and play. And of course, we also hope that you will feel proud of your contribution and achievement.

This week’s challenge encourages you to:

Vote for local nominees in CBC’s Searchlight competition. With three days remaining in the regional semi-finals for CBC’s Searchlight competition, three extremely talented local acts need your support to help get them through to the top 10 regional finals. In no particular order, Kingston’s nominees include:

• Kyra and Tully – Write About It
• Shawn McCullough – Fight
• Wendigo Jo – The Island

Since CBC allows you to vote for as many as 10 acts (per region) per day, there’s no reason why you can’t vote for all three if you really want to show some love for the local scene. Voting in the semi-final round concludes on April 13th at 2:59pm, while the finals run from April 14th until the 21st. Ultimately your votes will help one of our own claim the prestigious top spot, earning them a huge grand prize which includes new music equipment, a professional recording with CBC Music and a chance to perform at the CBCMusic.ca Festival in Vancouver. What are you waiting for? Vote now, and often. Tell your friends. Tell your mom.
