Artillery Park (1800-2014)

In celebration of the long anticipated re-opening of Artillery Park recreation centre, this week’s photo celebrates the long history of that particular piece of land in Kingston. If you’re interested in knowing more about the site be sure to check out the exhibit History beneath our feet: Artillery Park (1800-2014). As part of the renovation, Recreation and Leisure Services invited Cultural Services to organise an exhibit within the rehabilitated facility as a way to share with visitors the long history of the site and to showcase some of the many archaeological objects found on the grounds. City Curator Paul Robertson has designed a long-term temporary installation featuring a number of these artifacts. The exhibit will be updated periodically so that other objects from the large collection can be shared with Kingstonians.
