The #ygkchallenge is an ongoing series where we dare you to be different, resolve to be better, and or do something awesome in support of our beloved community. Each week, Kingstonist establishes a new, ambitious or quirky goal, encouraging you to step out of your comfort zone and do something great, and hopefully a little out of the ordinary. By taking part in this community-wide initiative, we hope to make Kingston (and the world) a slightly better place to live, work and play.
This week’s #ygkchallenge encourages you to:
Apply to Perform at Homegrown Live 2017. Homegrown Live is a one-day music festival, which celebrates Kingston-area musicians, and helps raise funds in support of the Joe Chithalen Memorial Musical Instrument Lending Library (Joe’s M.I.L.L.). Boasting over 12 venues, each featuring a different genre ranging from rock to electroaccoustic, classical to jazz, Homegrown Live 2017 is shaping up to be bigger and better than ever before. With this year’s festival scheduled for May 6th, the deadline for musicians to submit their application to perform is coming up quickly (March 31st). Accordingly, if you’re interested in taking the your turn on stage, and giving back to this significant fundraiser supporting community musical education and affordable access to musical instruments, now’s the time to throw your name into the hat. We hope to see you performing at this year’s Homegrown Live!
