Kingstonist Turns 6!

Kingstonist's 6th birthday, contestHappy birthday to us!  It is incredibly hard to believe that Kingstonist is six years old today.  A lot has changed over these last six years and Harvey and I, along with our amazing volunteer contributors are so thankful to all of you for helping us get this far.

As volunteers ourselves, with more than full time jobs on the go beyond Kingstonist, we feel so lucky that the Kingston community continues to seek us out a source of information and a place for great conversation.  Our goal when we launched Kingstonist was to contribute something meaningful to the community and to shine a light on topics that are important to everyone.  We feel like we have been able to do this thanks to our loyal readers, generous advertisers and creative writers.  So, first and foremost, THANK YOU!

You’ve probably noticed some major changes to the site over the last few days.  We’ve been working tirelessly to launch the new site, which now looks really sharp on whatever device you choose to visit us with. We’re still putting the finishing touches on some things, but we’re thrilled to see our baby take on a new look.  We value your thoughts as we continue to polish things, so please let us know if you notice something that needs our attention.

So, what’s a birthday without a party?  This year we want to celebrate by giving gifts to you, our awesome readers.  From now until 12pm next Tuesday, March 11th, anyone who comments, Tweets at us, or shares our posts on Facebook will be automatically entered to win one of 6 awesome Kingston-centric prizes.  Winners will be announced on Wednesday, March 12th and prizes will be distributed on a first come, first served basis. It’s our sixth birthday, so of course we have six prizes!  Wanna know what they are?  We have:

  • 2 Tickets to Mozart’s Requiem performed by The Kingston Symphony on March 23rd
  • 2 Tickets to jazz violinist Andy Stein with The Kingston Symphony on March 29th
  • 2 Tickets to the Derby Girls Season Opener on May 10th
  • A $25 gift certificate to Harper’s
  • A $25 gift certificate to Woodenheads
  • A $25 gift certificate to Days on Front

These are some pretty sweet prizes if I do say so myself.  So, be sure to visit us regularly and if you haven’t liked us on Facebook or followed us on Twitter yet, well, get to it!  We look forward to hearing from you and to taking the next big step by growing our community in new and exciting directions.

Thanks to Jinx! for today’s pic.

  • Always great to see another publication making it in Kingston. I still miss the PIC Press, and the Studio local entertainment newspapers. But it's 2014, and you're doing a great job. I especially like your event listing section, and am constantly letting folks know that it exists.

Only one request = MORE! :+)

Thanks VERY much for ALL your efforts!
