Police responding to a report of a man hitting and kicking a cab ended up in a foot pursuit in downtown Kingston, according to Kingston Police.
Police received the report at around 11 p.m. on Monday, Jul. 8, 2018, and were also told that no one was seen in the cab, which was parked in the 700 block of Princess Street (Williamsville). Responding officers noticed that the back window on the driver’s side of the cab had been smashed in, and that the man was inside the vehicle “rummaging through it,” according to a press release from Kingston Police.
As police approached the cab, the man attempted to flee the scene. A short foot pursuit followed, but the man was apprehended. The 44-year-old Kingston male has been charged with mischief and theft.
