#ygkChallenge: Confirm You Are Registered to Vote

ygkchallenge, 2015 Federal Election, Kingston, OntarioThe #ygkChallenge is an ongoing series where we dare you to be different, resolve to be better, and or do something awesome in support of our beloved community. Each week, Kingstonist establishes a new, ambitious or quirky goal, encouraging you to step out of your comfort zone and do something great, and hopefully a little out of the ordinary. By taking part in this community-wide initiative, we hope to make Kingston (and the world) a slightly better place to live, work and play.

This week’s #ygkChallenge encourages you to:

Confirm you are registered to vote. While it has been one of the longest campaigns leading up to an election in recent memory, the end of the 2015 Federal Election is fast approaching. Some of us already know who we’ll be voting for, while others are still finding out about candidates, their respective party leaders and platforms. Of course knowing who you’ll vote for is an important detail, but so is confirming that you are registered to vote. Most voters will likely breeze through polling stations by presenting government-issued photo ID (ie drivers licence) with their home address, however some will face frustrating complications and questions.  To avoid any last minute surprises, be sure your registered (at your listed home address), by checking out the 1-minute voter registration process. Following that, keep an eye out for confirmation as to where you should be voting in Kingston, dates for advance polls and so on.  Further, Kingstonist will once again be asking all of our local candidates pointed and pertinent questions, so stay tuned for our complete 2015 Federal Election coverage.

Join us in completing this week’s #ygkchallenge by liking it on Facebook and/or re-Tweeting it on Twitter. By liking and sharing, you’re not only committing to doing something great, but you’re also helping us spread the word and hopefully encouraging others to participate.
