Kingstonist.com is a community-driven website that focuses on everything and anything related to the Limestone City of Kingston, Ontario. Our main objective is to provide unique stories and engaging commentary that focuses on news, arts and culture, the environment, restaurants, people, events, and ideas that define life in Kingston. Our ever-growing multi-talented team of contributors strive to produce a diverse array of content ranging from written articles to audio podcasts, as well as video and photographic coverage of what’s going on around Kingston’s city streets and in our backyards.
Modest Beginnings
Kingstonist officially launched in March 2008 by a pair of local residents who felt that the city needed a new, positive forum to share progressive ideas and discuss various aspects of life in Kingston. In the early days, Kingstonist published only a few new articles per week, while reader interaction kept the conversation going in between the addition of fresh content. As our readership and cast of volunteer contributors continued to increase over the years, Kingstonist has been able to develop a regular publishing schedule that offers at least four new articles per week from multiple contributors, including the odd op-ed submission from our readers.
The look and feel of the site has been collectively shaped by our web developer, Tommy Vallier, as well as our art developer, HC Concepts.
Where We Are Today
As of Kingstonist’s 4th birthday in March 2012, we have published over 2,500 articles, which includes event, restaurant and city-related guides, civic new releases, and calendar listings. Kingstonist continues to flourish as a positive online destination where the community can engage in educated and thought provoking discussions regarding ideas that matter and will shape the things to come in Kingston and beyond. Both locals and out of town visitors frequently return to take advantage of our feature-rich site, which has grown to include an informative events calendar, weekly public opinion polls, weather forecast, breaking news alerts, geographically-linked content, and the list goes on.
Where Are We Going?
To this day we’re committed to seeking out a diverse array of engaged contributors and inquisitive readers.
