All across Canada, craft beer is in, and Kingston is no exception. Over the last 5 or so years, we have seen an influx of craft breweries opening up shop in and around the Kingston area – many with tasting rooms, bottle shops and restaurants to go with them. In 2017 alone we saw the opening of 3 new brewing companies. Well, one was a relocation of a major player in the game – Spearhead – who recently opened up shop on Development Drive (to my personal delight). Wolfe Island Spring has recently found themselves lining the shelves of local beer stores, Stone City Ales is introducing new brews on a regular basis and Riverhead Brewing Company has made a significant splash from its location in Kingston’s west end. All this to say, craft beer is alive and well in ygk.
This past April, beer connoisseur and Kingstonist writer Marisa Sandlin had a chance to chat with King’s Town Brewing Company owner and head brewer Mike Demmons. In this Six Questions, she learned about King’s Town’s vision, their brewing set up, and plans for the future.
Read on and see why our interview with Mike Demmons of King’s Town Beer Company is one of our Best of 2017.
