The wait is over! When the Grand Theatre’s box office opens at noon on Monday, August 20, 2012, individual tickets to the Grand Theatre’s 2012-2013 season will go on-sale. This greatly-anticipated annual event generates a long line of theatre-enthusiasts who are expected to queue down the Princess Street sidewalk leading back to the box office.
It’s easy to understand why: Since season tickets went on sale May 2012, ticket sales have broken all previous box office records and the release of single tickets are expected to be equally in high demand. It’s an exciting season jam-packed with 46 different shows from around the world. Some of the diverse offerings include the comedy of “Corner Gas” star Brent Butt, the raw recycled energy of ScrapArtsMusic, the R&B vocals of Boyz II Men, the holiday musical adventures of the wonderfully whacky “Winter Wonderettes,” and the State Ballet of Russia’s “The Nutcracker”. And that’s just the beginning. Comedy and music will take centre stage with two Broadway productions: “Titanic: the Musical” comes alive on stage 100 years after the sinking of the original ship of dreams, and the fun, frivolous and definitely sexy “Rock of Ages” musical will have you ready to rock. The Grand Theatre is also excited to announce a new Country series, featuring big name talents such as Michelle Wright, Jason McCoy and Dean Brody, nominated for seven 2012 Canadian Country Music Awards.
“A great many of the shows this season might only be seen in Toronto or Ottawa, but can now be enjoyed in the newly-restored Grand right here in our own town,” explains City of Kingston Cultural Director, Brian McCurdy. “These productions are world-class and showcase incredible talent, diversity and will certainly thrill and amaze audiences.”
Individual tickets go on sale Monday, August 20, 2012 at noon through the Grand Theatre box office, by phone and online. Subscriptions will continue to be available for discounts of up to 15%.
