Kingston Blooms Award Winners Announced

The winners of this year’s Kingston Blooms individual gardens awards were announced last night during a celebration at the Senior Staff Mess at RMC.

“Kingston’s dedicated gardeners put their hearts and souls into their work and we all enjoy the fruits of their labour. They add flourish and interest to our already lovely streets. They deserve to be celebrated for making Kingston such a beautiful place to live and visit,” says Sue Hitchcock, Communities in Bloom Coordinator who noted that the gardening competition had received 150 entrants – that’s the second highest number of participants since the program began in 2003.

National Communities in Blooms Judges Evelyn Alemanni and Steve Presten were at the awards presentation. Today, the Judges will be touring Kingston, including the Water Conservation Garden at Utilities Kingston – winner of both the Commercial Garden and Mayor’s Choice Kingston Blooms awards – and the new Veterans Memorial Gardens at the Memorial Centre.
