City, United Way Streamline Grant Application Process

The United Way serving Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox & Addington (KFL&A) and the City have streamlined their application process to make it easier for organizations seeking grants from these organizations.

The former United Way Community Fund and the former municipal Healthy Community Fund now have a single application process through the new Community Investment Fund.

The revamped program is in keeping with the United Way’s efforts to assist organizations in responding to emerging needs and issues in Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox & Addington and the goals outlined in the community-built Sustainable Kingston Plan.

Applications for one-time grants for projects will be accepted in four Community Impact Areas:

  • Belonging to Community: From Poverty to Possibility
  • Turning Lives Around: Healthy People, Strong Communities
  • Growing Up Great: All That Kids Can Be
  • Sustaining Our Heritage (City of Kingston projects only)

Applications and guidelines for the 2011 Community Investment Fund are now available online on the United Way’s website under the “Fund Distribution” tab. The deadline for applications to arrive at the United Way office at 417 Bagot St. is Monday, Sept. 12. Paper copies of the forms are available at the United Way or at City Hall, 216 Ontario St. For more information, contact 613-542-2674, ext. 6 or khockey@unitedwaykfla.ca.

It is anticipated that successful projects will be notified by Dec. 1.

A drop-in information session to answer questions about the program has been set from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 pm on Tuesday, Aug. 16, at the City’s Community and Family Services offices at 362 Montreal St.
