Livable City Design Awards Now Accepting Nominations

The City is now accepting nominations for the Livable City Design Awards, celebrating excellence in urban designs in projects that have been completed over the last three years.

“We want to celebrate recent projects in Kingston that demonstrate creativity and innovation, make use of quality materials and are mindful of sustainability and accessibility concerns,” says Grant Bain, Director of Planning and Development.

Any project that was completed in Kingston between Jan. 1, 2007 and Dec. 31, 2010 and is visible or accessible to the public can be eligible for entry. Nominations for the Livable City Design Awards can be submitted until May 16.

All types of development are eligible, including:

  • Residential developments
  • Commercial developments
  • Industrial developments
  • Institutional developments
  • Mixed use developments
  • Heritage conservation projects
  • Recreational facilities
  • Parks and open spaces
  • Public spaces
  • Infrastructure
  • Streetscape improvements

Nominated projects will be judged by a jury of professionals this summer and the winners will be announced at an awards ceremony at the end of October.

Nomination packages are also available at City Hall, 216 Ontario St. and 1211 John Counter Blvd.
