One terribly gray and wind-torn night, a mysterious, all-consuming fire claimed the Shadowbox Circus; Burned up the tent, stage curtains and all. It left all the creatures of this circus in the comedy and tragedy of place-lessness, doomed to haunt the streets, to struggle on without the thin border (stage curtain) that until recently kept separate and protected their strange world from invasive outside realities. Our cranky and charming Master of Ceremony, with help from his imagination which manifests itself in shadow-puppet form, tells the story of the circus and introduces all
its characters: the piano master who has taken to the bottle in desparation, the stilt-creature who now washes windows to make rent, the orchestra, the dancers, the, the, the….with a single plea to the audience: help raise money for new stage curtains.
This event will take place at The Upper Canada Academy of Performing Arts.
