Cirque du Soleil Quidam

From a group of 20 street performers at its beginnings in 1984, Cirque du Soleil is a major Quebec-based organization providing high-quality artistic entertainment. The company has 5,000 employees including more than 1,200 artists from close to 50 different countries. Cirque du Soleil has brought wonder and delight to close to 100 million spectators in 300 cities on five continents.

Quidam (pronounced ”key-dam”) had its world premiere in Montreal under the Big Top in April 1996. Since that time, the production has toured on five continents and been experienced by millions of people. In December 2010, Quidam will embark on a new journey, performing the same captivating production, but now in arenas throughout North America, including six shows at the K-Rock Centre. The international cast features 52 world-class acrobats, musicians, singers and characters.

Quidam is a nameless passer-by, a solitary figure lingering on a street corner, a person rushing past. It could be anyone or anybody; someone coming, going, living in our anonymous society; a member of the crowd, one of the silent majorities; the one who cries out, sings and dreams within us all. This is the “quidam” that Cirque du Soleil is celebrating.
