CFRC 101.9FM, Kingston’s only campus and community radio station, marks the 35th annual Prisoners’ Justice Days with a special live broadcast.
Prisoners’ Justice Day began in commemoration of Eddie Nalon, who bled to death in the segregation unit of Millhaven Maximum Security Prison on August 10, 1974. The date has become an annual event in remembrance of all those who have died in prison.
This year, CFRC recognizes Prisoners’ Justice Day with a special live broadcast. Tune in at 101.9FM or listen on-line at www.cfrc.ca on Tuesday, August 10 from 5pm until midnight to hear interviews, analysis and music about prisons and prisoners. The broadcast will feature topics including prison farms, indigenous and queer issues within Canada’s penal system, how families are affected when a loved one is incarcerated, and restorative justice movements. There will also be an hour of music requests made by prisoners.
