Movies in the Square: The NeverEnding Story

Movies in the Square is an opportunity for families to enjoy popular movies in our picturesque Market Square, located just behind City Hall. The show starts at dusk, while all attendees are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs, snacks and blankets.

The NeverEnding Story centres around Bastian, a boy who is constantly being chased by bullies, and reprimanded by his father for daydreaming too much. On one occasion, Bastian escapes from the bullies and hides in an old used book store. After explaining his predicament to the old clerk, Bastian notices a large leather bound book with a symbol of two snakes intertwined into an emblem. Soon after the clerk warns Bastian that this book is not for him, however Bastian does not pay attention to the warning. Taking refuge in the attic of his school, he opens the book, and a world of fantasy. Learning that the wonderous, beautiful land of Fantasia is being destroyed by a terrible “Nothing”, Bastian is taken deeper into the story. After discovering that the Empress is deathly ill, Bastian follows the journey of a young warrior named Atreyu, unknowing that he, himself is slowly being written into the mysterious book.
