A group of residents are taking notice of the unique character that is Williamsville. Individuals from the area and business community have been meeting to organize a Town Hall in support of revitalizing Kingston’s Mid-Town (Princess, West of Division).
The group is currently circulating a survey to business owners and operators in the Williamsville area, questioning the state of garbage collection along city streets.
“We’re really pleased with the work the city has been doing with the Memorial Centre,” said Jamie Masse, on of the events organizing chairs. “We wanted to add to that by helping to improve the overall mid-town area.”
Masse went on to say that when driving towards the downtown going through the Mid-Town at times is a little depressing. “All you see right now are empty parking lots and demolished gas stations, we all know and believe that this area has more life than that.”
The group is organizing a neighbourhood town hall at St. Luke’s Anglican Church on Nelson Street. “The church has been on board with this effort to redevelop the mid-town right from the beginning. We’re excited and fortunate that such a cross-section of businesses and individuals have come out to help out the neighbourhood,” said Masse. The meeting will be held at 7:30pm at St. Luke’s, 236 Nelson St.)
