Friday Foto

snow plow, Mr. Plow, Kingston snow removal, winter in KingstonLast Friday I marvelled at how amazing, albeit unseasonal, the weather was. What a difference a week makes. Today the city awoke to bone chilling temperatures that were estimated to reach minus 30 thanks to the wind chill.  Is it too much to ask for some snow to go along with this helping of frost bite? At least with flurries there’s the remote possibility of a snow day that could shut down the city for 24 hours.  Despite the weather outside, there are lots of reasons to brave the cold over the over the coming days, specifically Reelout 11 and Feb Fest.  Kingston’s premier queer film and video festival kicked off last night, while the the next week is jam packed with outstanding films and festival parties.  On Monday, Feb Fest begins, while it includes performances by Elvis Stojko, Tom Cochrane, as well as the OHL All-Star Game, Limestone Classic, Historic Hockey Series, and much, much more.  The bottom line is that there’s plenty to see and do in Kingston over then next week, so get out there and enjoy!

Todays photo comes to us courtesy of The Jimmer, who captured a city snow plow hard at work back in February of 2007.  You can find this image and more work from local photographers on Kingstonist’s new Flickr group.
