Vigils for Survival

Many of us know that a significant climate conference is taking place in Copenhagen. A positive outcome which would be a significant commitment to real reductions in CO2 emissions compared to 1990 levels by 2020. Human caused climate change has already begun to affect many people around the world. Nnimmo Bassey, a Nigerian Environmentalist, says we are past “injury time” and we need action.

There will be four Vigils for Survival held in Kingston this weekend. It is a chance for us to go out and stand in support and solidarity with those already affected by climate change, and to to show our support for a significant commitment to real reductions on the part of our leaders.

The vigils are registered in conjunction with 350.org and are at the following locations and times:

Friday December 11 at 12 pm on Ontario St.
Saturday December 12 at 5:30 pm at Market square
Sunday December 13 at 11:30 am at St Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran
