Carpets have their own code, a hieroglyphic notation used when weaving one by two or more weavers. Now the coding is done by computer images but until recently there was a ‘chanter’ for the weavers. Learn about the secret codes in weaver’s carpet from across global history from Sylvat Aziz, Associate Professor of Painting at Queen’s University. Admission is $5, including tea and refreshments, while this event is hosted at the Pump House Museum (23 Ontario St).
