The Life and Death of Public Waters in Kingston

“The Life and Death of Public Waters in Kingston” considers how changes in society have given rise to different attitudes towards public beaches and water services in Kingston. It is argued that following a long period of popularity, these services lost their general appeal in the late 20th century. Recent social trends, however, suggest a renewed enthusiasm for public water. Jamie Linton, Associate Professor of the Department of Geography at Queen’s University gives this presentation at the Pump House Museum (23 Ontario St).  Admission is $5, which includes tea and refreshments.
