In yesterday’s “what if Kingston” post, I mentioned that I’d spent the past weekend in Montreal. I was fortunate enough to take Via Rail, which in my opinion, is the pinnacle of travel, especially if you’re taking Via1. When somebody else does the driving, or in this case conducting, I am free to read, sleep, or browse the Internet. I am also sure that many of us appreciate the washroom facilities on board. The video below captures the last 10 minutes of our return trip to Kingston. Although you can’t make them out in the grainy (un-HiDef) video, I was struck by the scale and visibility of the Wolfe Island wind turbines, which could be seen as the railway met Kingston Mills. I was also taken aback by the amount of graffiti on the underside of some of the bridges on the way into the Limestone City. Thanks to kingstongal for the photo of Kingston’s Via Rail station.
