Downtown Kingston! is gearing up for the fifth annual Feb Fest celebration. Festivities begin today, a day earlier than usual, and they’re going to start with a bang.

None other then many-time National and International figure skating champion Kurt Browning will be on hand to help kick off the fun. Browning will joining local skaters as part of the annual Imagination on Ice show which begins at 7:00pm, shortly following the Opening Ceremonies. Anyone who’s ever seen Browning perform will tell you that this is sure to be an entertaining, high-energy show that is not to be missed! Come early to guarantee yourself a good spot.

New this year will be some amazing performances by the Ottawa-based Flying Canucks on Thursday, February 5th. This group features past, present and future Olympians who perform outstanding aerial acrobatic skiing, snowboarding and new-school freestyle ‘Big Air’ manoeuvres on a trampoline.

In addition to these feature performances, this year’s non-stop entertainment at Feb Fest also includes: free public skating daily; The Limestone Classic 4 on 4 shinny hockey tournament featuring NHL Alumni; Party in the Square featuring ill Scarlett; and it all wraps up with a blast from the past on Sunday with the Historic Hockey Series. Not to mention, sledge hockey demonstrations, the annual 24 Hour Snow Sculpture Competition, Ice Sculptures, Beaver Tails and more!

Founded by a volunteer committee led by Kirk Muller, Downtown Kingston!, BIA, Kingston Accommodation Partners, KEDCO, Queen’s University and the City of Kingston, Feb Fest is a free event open to everyone to see the best of what a Kingston winter has to offer.

  1. My advice to Kingstonist readers looking to take in FebFest: make your restaurant reservations in advance so you can avoid the long lines. This year is gearing up to be huge with the great weather we’re supposed to enjoy over the next week. Very excited to see FebFest happen…how much it has grown over the past few years.

    Argh. We forgot to check the dates before we planned a weekend out of town. We’re taking to boys to Ottawa for Winterlude. It just figures that they’d conflict.
