5 Brickbats to City Council

As we hunker down to usher in 2009, I couldn’t help but syndicate some great content that was created by Junior. It’s like Festivus all over again, as he lists the top 5 ways Kingston City Council let us all down over the past year.

  1. The disgusting and derelict state of Division Street, which is fast becoming the unofficial entrance to Kingston and transportation corridor to the downtown.
  2. The “I told you so” failing financial situation of the KRC, Krock, and/or LVEC, resulting from reports that they pulled in a third of their projected income for 2008.
  3. The shameful state of Brock Street, which is in such poor shape it is rated 2nd on CAA’s list of the 20 worst roads across Canada. Way to go Kingston!
  4. With a downtown that is rich in history, the lack of livable/public/recreational development along our waterfront is both ridiculous and inexcusable.
  5. Although Kingston’s economy is fueled by federal and provincial institutions, little has been done to attract new businesses. New big box malls don’t count.

Be sure to read the full story, as well as Juniorannex’s top 5 bouquets to City Council. Happy New Year!

  1. Thanks for the h/t

A lot of blogs fly under the radar so to speak and the kingstonist had evaded mine until very recently – however I will continue to track the very good work you are doing here.

I don’t imagine that juniorannex will compete in anyway with the kingstonist – different goals in mind and all that – but ocassionally will try to blog about my adopted city…

    cheers, junior

  2. It’s waaaaay easier to get into the city via Sir John A. Way fewer traffic lights between the 401 and Princess.
