Greetings reader! I am pleased to announce the worthwhile events going on around the Limestone City this weekend. How do you think this summer compares to last year? I recently heard the Marketing Manager for Fort Henry on the CBC who stated that attendance is up a slight 7%. That said, I’ve had a few conversations with cab drivers over the summer who’ve complained that this is one of the poorest on record. Is the high price of gas, and therefore everything else, impacting your vacation plans? Are you instead opting for local staycations instead of adventures in a far away land? We want to know what you’re up to and why, so drop us a comment.

A Little Tone Def Festival - Cheap Experiments in Sound & Space, is taking place this weekend at the Modern Fuel gallery. Tonight, Cities Turn to Sand (dance-electro-pop-punk band from Toronto), and Fighter/Lover (ambient/rock/instrumental band who only plays shows within walking distance of Queen St) are playing a special flashlight concert, meaning if you bring a flashlight, you get in for a few bucks less. Doors open at 9pm, with the show starting around 10pm.
Continuing on down the musical path, Big Band Friday’s in Market Square behind City Hall starts a bit earlier at 7pm with a free concert from the Swing Time Dance Band. If there name is any indication, I imagine the square will have a flurry of swing dancers rocking out until after dark.
If you are up for something a bit more risqué, Time to Laugh Comedy Club is hosting a stand up comedy show by Kenny Robinson and Arthur Simeon at 9pm. This show is listed as X-rated, and is not recommended for those who are easily offended. Sounds like a good time! In case you miss it, they have repeat performances on Saturday at 7:30 and 10pm.

Kingston Expert Tees is hosting the 9th Annual Beach Volleyball Tournament for Easter Seals. This event draws upon the sporting and corporate communities of Kingston and surrounding area to raise much-needed funds for Kingston area children with physical disabilities. Do you really need a better reason to roll around in the sand?
In case you are looking for something for the entire family? The MacLachlan Woodworking Museum Family Fun Days might fit the bill. Located by Grass Creek Park on Hwy 2, the day-long programme involves creating a planter box, while learning all about heritage herbs and aboretum.
A Little Tone Def Festival - Cheap Experiments in Sound & Space, continues at the Modern Fuel gallery on Saturday night with TimKnightUs: A Space Odyssey. Kingston’s popular atmospheric noise audio band, TimKnightUs, will play the experimental live score for Kubrick’s classic space odyssey. This free experience is also offered with free popcorn.
Sunday, July 27th
There really isn’t a whole lot going on around the City on Sunday’s, but we still have to give a shout out to the Sunday Market behind City Hall. From antiques to locally produced, fresh vegetables, cheese and maple syrup, it’s the perfect way to spend a lazy Sunday.
Fancy something a bit more thrilling? Then we recommend heading out to Kingston Family Fun World to take in a double feature. With new releases including: The Dark Knight, Hell Boy 2, Stepbrothers, and Hancock, you can’t go wrong!

Thanks for taking the time to list what’s going on every weekend, I really appreciate it, even if some of the events are something I would go to.
No problem-o Matt, though I can’t take all the credit.
