Who doesn’t love a four-day work week? After a chilly long weekend, Ron Burgundy and the gang down at Channel 4 are predicting sunny skies along with what we consider seasonally normal temperatures. The bottom line is that it will be perfect weather for getting outdoors, and enjoying some great community events.

K-Rock proudly presents Antigonish’s own “The Trews“, who will be rocking AJ’s Hanger Alehouse. Advance tickets are a steal of a deal at $15, and you can expect to tack on at least $5 if you buy them at the door. This will no doubt be a great concert, as their most recent album titled “No Time For Later” has been receiving solid reviews throughout North America. To think that these guys were once big enough to play at the K-Rock Centre.
Although it’s been years since we last went to the drive-in, we’re finally making a trip out to Kingston Family Fun World this weekend to check out the double feature of Iron Man and our favorite geriatric adventurer, Indiana Jones. Other featured films include the new Chronicles of Narnia, College Road Trip, and What Happens in Vegas.
Earlier this week, we mentioned that The Artel is hosting a group performance & exhibition by Sandra Jass, which is titled “Rules of the Game.” This week-long art-game kicks off tonight, and aims to “explore and play out complex social dynamics of gender and other power variables, as well as the ability of the group to collaborate, problem solve, and resolve conflict.”

The 4th Annual Limestone Charity Triathlon commences at the Kingston Military Community Sports Centre. Competitors and volunteers alike have a great time enjoying the BBQ lunch and the chance to win great prizes.
Modern Fuel continues to exhibit “We Know Where We Are”, an exhibition by Julia Mensink and Lisa Visser that examines the nature of their own artistic relationships, both personal and professional, so that their collaboration becomes a microcosm that offers a perspective on other processes of collaboration. In a series of choreographed dances, they will strive to woo you to dance too, so that you can see our relationships at an abstracted, atomic level.
Last but not least, what better way to enjoy a beautiful weekend outdoors than browsing the wares at the Sunday Market behind City Hall. This sort of exhibit happens each and every weekend, featuring art, antiques and the always enjoyable farmers market including vegetables, flowers, locally produced cheese, bread and much, much more.

The Trews suck. Surprised you haven’t mentioned Ms. Crow’s upcoming performance at the Krock. Perhaps I’ll see you guys at the drive-in this weekend. How much food do they let you sneak in?
